Birthday for my Boss

It is my boss's birthday this weekend so I made a card yesterday.  I struggled making one all evening yesterday and finally ended up with this one.  I scored the top and bottom with the Scorepal and added the Paisley embossed panel of the same colour to add some texture.  Two of the presents are popped up at different heights to add some dimension. I'm still not quite sure if I'm happy with it but it is growing on me :)   Hope you like it.

Each Day is a Precious Gift

Today was a refreshing, cool day after a very hot week.  I was very grateful, so the sentiment for this card seemed very appropriate.  Every day IS a precious gift from God.  The care was inspired by a beautiful card by Loll Thompson.  Check it out (and her many other amazing cards) on her blog here. I have been wanting to make a card using designer paper.  I have a lot of it but rarely use it so I thought this was a good opportunity.  The DP I used is Everyday Enchantment from SU.  I punched two 5 petal flowers out of the DP and then crunched them up into a ball and straightened them out again to add the dimension to the flower. I sponged the edges of the card in Soft Suede. Thanks for visiting my blog.
Stamps: Refuge & Strength (SU)
Ink: Soft Suede (SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Soft Sky, Kiwi Kiss, (all SU - some retired), Everyday Enchantment DP

CTD205

I really like the colour combination for Colour Throwdown 205 the Colour Throwdown ladies have this week, so I decided to make two cards, vitually identical except that the colours are used in different places on the card.  I didn't have the exact colours for the challenge but used ones that are close.  The flower is popped up using dimensionals as is the centre of the flower. See which version you like best!

Stamps: It's Your Day (SU)
Ink: Vintage Violet (SU retired)
Paper: Whisper White, Cool Caribbean, Pumpkin Pie, Vintage Violet, Kiwi Kiss (all SU - some retired)
Accessories: 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/4" scallop punch, Polka Dot embossing folder, Square Lattice embossing folder, Kiwi Kiss corduroy button, white gel pen, dimensionals

Miss You!

Our youth pastor and his family are moving to Salmon Arm so I made a "moving away" card.  We will really miss them but I trust that this is God's plan for them and for our church and wish them all the best.  I wanted the truck to pop on this card so I made it the only colourful element and then tried to add interest to the rest of the card with texture (hard to see in the picture). There is 1/4" score line around the outside and both the black edged square and the square with the truck are popped up with dimensionals. The edges of the truck square are distressed with the distressing wheel on the cutting tool. I'm not sure I was entirely successful but hope you like it

Stamps: Loads of Love, Loads of Love Accessories, Short & Sweet (all SU - some retired)
Ink: Classic Black, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Real Rust, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Soft Suede, Peach Parfait
Paper: Whisper White, Black (both SU)
Accessories: Stripes embossing folder, cutting tool (both SU), ScorePal, Silver marker

Mixed Bunch Square Card

My Mom was here for a visit for the long weekend and then I was house-sitting a friend's kitty so I haven't been able to make cards for awhile.  I've been really itching to make one so this morning I finally did - a combination of the Square card challenge at CAS-ual Fridays CFC65 and the Splitcoast clean & simple colour challenge CAS182.  The flower is popped up using dimentionals and has glitter in the middle of it (both hard to see in the picture). Hope you like it...

Stamps: Mixed Bunch (SU), Sweetest Sayings (SU retired)
Ink: Night of Navy (SU)
Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White (both SU), DP is from a retired SU paper pack
Accessories: Mixed Bunch punch, Eyelet punch (both SU), dimentionals, glitter

Pink Birthday

My favorite colour these days is pink so I decided it was time to make a pink card.  I made this one for Splitcoast's sketch challenge SC395.  I used the SU Create a Cupcake stamp set along with the co-ordinating punch.  The cupcake is popped up with dimensionals and the  top has glitter on it (hard to see in the picture). Thanks for looking.

Colour Challenge

It's been a very busy week so I haven't had time to get back to card-making until today. Today's card is for CAS-ual Fridays CFC63 Colour Challenge - Lime, Aqua and Navy. I bought SU's lace ribbon border punch quite a while ago but this is the first time I'm using it.  I punched the border out of SU cool caribbean, wove navy 1/8 taffeta ribbon through it and then tied the ends into a kiwi kiss corduroy button.  The sentiment is from SU Kind and Caring Thoughts.  Hope you like it.

Back in Black

I finally re-organized my craft room so now I have space to be creative again. For a long time now I've only been making cards when I needed one for a birthday or an occasion.  I'm looking forward to getting back to creating for the pure joy of it. I started today with this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge (CFC62 Back in Black).
I used SU's Blossom Bouquet triple layer punch and Square Lattice embossing folder (my new favorite!). I punched the triple layer flowers out of each of the three colours, glued all the flowers except the orange center to the black background and then ran it through my Big Shot using the Square Lattice folder. The orange centre is popped up using Dollar store dimensionals. I punched the Word Window, mounted the card front on white and then stamped in the sentiment. Hope you like it...

Paper: Black, Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise (SU), Only Orange and Yoyo Yellow (SU retired)
