Birthday Card Class Card #3

Here's a card idea that I got from the Stampin' Success magazine that Stampin' Up demonstrators get from Stampin' Up every month. Again this is a good unisex card with nice bright colours for spring and summer. It uses a technique called loading where you combine colours using two markers.

Supplies:
  • Tart & Tangy stamp set (Occasions 2008 Mini Catalogue)
  • Birthday Whimsey Sale-A-Bration stamp set

  • White cardstock (8 1/2" x 5 1/2") and scraps to punch out circles

  • Old Olive textured cardstock (4 1/2" x 5 1/2")

  • So Saffron cardstock (2" x 5 1/2")

  • Rose Red cardstock (3/16" x 5 1/2")

  • Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa, Rose Red, Pixie Pink, Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron markers

  • Old Olive classic ink

  • 1 3/8" circle punch

  • Snail adhesive

  • Dimensionals

Instructions:

  1. Adhere So Saffron cardstock piece to Old Olive textured cardstock about 3/4" from the bottom.

  2. Adhere Rose Red cardstock piece to Old Olive textured cardstock 1/8" to 1/4" below the So Saffron piece

  3. Using the Certainly Celery marker to colour directly on the stamp, colour a circle around the center of the apple image

  4. Using the Old Olive marker, colour around the edges of the apple image leaving about an 1/8" inch strip between the Certainly Celery circle from Step 4.

  5. Take the Certainly Celery marker and colour the tip of marker with the Old Olive marker (this is called Loading). Now, using the loaded Certainly Celery marker, colour in the strip that you left in Step 5. This will blend the Certainly Celery with the Old Olive around the edge of the image.

  6. Huff on the rubber to make sure all your ink is still wet. Stamp image on scrap piece of white cardstock making sure to leave enough room around the image to be able to punch it out with the 1 3/8"circle punch

  7. Repeat Steps 4 to 6 for the Strawberry image (using the Rose Red and Pixie Pink markers). Always use the lightest colour in the center of the image and the darkest colour around the edges. Also always load the lightest coloured marker. Once you are finished blending the colours on your stamp, scribble the lighter marker on a piece of scrap paper to use up all the darker colour you loaded the marker with.

  8. Repeat Steps 4 - 6 for the Orange image using the So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie markers

  9. Punch out all images with the 1 3/8" punch

  10. Space evenly along the So Saffron cardstock piece and adhere with dimensionals

  11. Stamp Happy Birthday on the upper right hand side of the card

Enjoy!

Get Well Card

One of my Mom's friends fell and broke her arm. We usually send e-cards but with a broken arm she has a hard time typing on the computer so we thought we would send her a snail mail card instead. Here's the one I made for her. The supplies I used are ruby red, close to cocoa, chocolate chip and very vanilla cardstock and ruby red, always artichoke and close to cocoa markers (to colour the flower image stamp) and chocolate chip ink for the "Get Well Soon" sentiment. I also used vintage brads, the small tag punch, 1/16" and 1/8" punches, word window punch (to make the little chocolate chip reinforcement at the top of the tag), mat pack, paper piercer and hemp twine. Enjoy!

Simple Valentines Card

This is the make and take card we did at my Sale-A-Bration Open House on Saturday. Here's the recipe. Cut a 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of textured red cardstock for the top. Tape or glue a piece of 5/8" Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon along the bottom edge and then glue to the card front (card size 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"). Stamp the big polka dotted heart from the "Forever In My Heart" stamp set in Tempting Turquoise and the small "love" heart in Real Red. Cut both out and stick to card front using dimensionals. On the right hand side under the ribbon stamp "Happy Valentines Day" (from the Holiday's and Wishes set). Enjoy!

Dahlia Fold card

Here's another card I made for a co-worker's birthday. It uses the Dahlia fold technique to make the flower (I discovered this through another Splitcoast challenge). The instructions to make the dahlia fold flower can be found here: http://www.cardsandcrafts.freeservers.com/dahlia.html. Other supplies I used to make the card are Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal and Bashful Blue cardstock, Cutie Pie designer paper, the spring flower punch (retired), a black brad, 1/16" punch, paper piercer and mat pack, the Happy Everything stamp set and the new Stitched background stamp. I glued the petals of the flower to a scrap circle I had cut out of white before sticking the flower to the card.

Valentine's Card

I made this card for Splitcoast's feature stamper challenge on Sunday, January 20th. The featured stamper was Kathy C (her card is here :http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/701658?cat=500&ppuser=44493. She originally made her card to send to the Dunn family, whose twin baby girls were diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage 4s. Their story is touching and can be read here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/dunntwins (the girls are responding well to treatment). Here's the recipe for my card:

Cardstock: Rose red, Regal rose, Chocolate chip, White
Stamp Sets: Bundle of Joy, Happy Heart Day
Accessories: Loves Me Designer Paper (retired), Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, rose 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, large & small oval punches, blender pens, heart shaped brads and dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!
